- I was born in Buenos Aires in 1954, where I grew up, moving in my early teens to Boston with my parents and brother, and then to Paris. I studied math and statistics at the Université de Paris and started my career in the media in that city in the early 80’s, first as a science journalist for Pour la Science, the French edition of Scientific American, and then for the French science magazine La Recherche. In 1989, I moved to Portugal (where I married) and started working at the science desk of the newly-founded daily newspaper PÚBLICO in Lisbon, where I still work today. In the mid-90’s, I was instrumental to the creation of the newspaper’s website, which is today the most influential media site in Portugal. In parallel to my journalistic career, I also worked as a translator. In 1993, I won the national prize of the Société Française de Traducteurs for my translation of Gerald Edelman’s Bright Air, Brilliant Fire for the Editions Odile Jacob (Paris). I live in Lisbon with my husband and our two children.
